A crested saguaro, also known as a cristate saguaro, is a rare mutation of the saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) where the growing tip develops a fan-like crest instead of the typical cylindrical arms. This unique growth pattern is a result of cells in the growing stem dividing outward, rather than in the usual circular pattern.
